Potatoes

Ah Potatoes... What a waste to just deep fry them and turn them into unhealthy (albeit admittedly delicious) French fries?

Are potatoes unhealthy or fattening?

No they are not. Deep frying them and turning them into french fries is obviously not good for you, same as mashed potatoes with heaps of butter.
Potatoes are really not a high calorie food - 100g just contain 77 calories. 75% of a potatoes weight is made up from water. Just to compare: 100g of cooked white rice have 111 calories. Thus potatoes are good for you!

How to make a great potatoe salad?

Easy. Boil about 1 kg of potatoes, peel them and let them cool down. Letting them cool down first is important for otherwise they will just crumble when cutting. Cut them into small cubes. Then cut one glass of pickled cucumbers and 4 apples into small cubes. Optionally: stir fry some red onions until translucent and add them into the mix.

The main secret is the sauce, so carefully stir in our special potatoe salad sauce and enjoy!

Which types of potatoes to choose for salads?

Not all potatoes were created equal. Make sure you use waxy potatoes for the salad, often they are marked as "salad potatoes" in shops.
