Technically it is a fruit of a flowering plant, since the tomato is the ovary of the tomato plant - together with its seeds. Yet another fun fact: In China small tomatoes are often served together with fruits in buffets or fruit platters for desert.

In Salads tomatoes add color, taste and texture and definitely can make many salads (especially pasta salads or green salads much tastier). Dried tomatoes added in a pasta salad give a nice Mediterranean touch, or maybe top your potatoe salad with some grilled tomatoes?

For the bold: How about adding some cherrytomatoes into your fruit salad next time? Just cut a cup of grapes in half and do the same for a cup of cocktailtomatoes. Mix them into your fruitsalad and surprise the eaters as well as your tastebuds!
